Urgency of the research. The formation of cultural and social processes in the contemporary literary circle of Ukrainian national literature is an extremely relevant issue. For a deeper understanding of the national identity of the individual, Ukrainian modernist prose is analyzed through the prism of the psychology of national consciousness and cultural life reflected in literature. After all, the works of modernists focus on the inner state of the individual, on conflict situations that arise in moments of socio-cultural transformation. By studying these issues, we realize the global national challenges in the vicissitudes of the formation of literary studies.

Target setting. In the article, the author examines the realization of national literature, which allows to stimulate public thinking and understand the inner world of characters, their doubts, fears and aspirations, which in turn reflects the general philosophical searches and anxieties of the era, through which the deep psychology of modernity is comprehended.

Actual scientific researches and issues analysis. A detailed analysis of psychologism in O. Kobylianska's works was carried out by domestic researchers: T. Hundorova, Y. Sherekh, О. Zabuzhko, S. Pavlychko, S. Yefremov.

The research objective. In order to achieve the results of the task, the research of the inner world of the characters, their emotional experiences, social conflicts and issues of national identity was carried out.

The statement of basic materials. The article highlights a deep reflection of the subjective world of a person, which is primarily a topical issue that involves an emphasis on the internal perception of reality, that is, multidimensional personalities characterized by the search for new forms and methods of artistic expression are studied and highlighted. Ukrainian modern prose depicts a national identity that struggles for existential reality and self-identification, thus reflecting the entire conflictual reality of the social unit in relation to the psychological drama in the characters' cultural lives. Often, the psychological role of a subject in the social life of a community leads to internal struggles under cultural pressure.

Conclusions. In this work, based on the analysis, explores the national identity and cultural identity of the Ukrainian people, which are reflected in the works of the modernist period of literature and focus on the internal conflicts of subjects struggling for personal identity. The renewed form of thinking and psychological consciousness of the subject provide further strength for the development of Ukrainian literature in Europe. After all, the perception of reality experienced by the characters of the works is reflected in accordance with their psychological states. Therefore, spiritual search, the pursuit of individualism, and national identity are new rules that help to reflect the overall picture of the national consciousness in the issue of the realization of the psychologism of modernist prose in the Ukrainian question of national literature.
