Urgency of the research. The military activities currently taking place in the country have presented educators with a number of acute problems that our community of educators has not faced before. One of these issues was the management of an educational institution in wartime conditions, namely the problems of relocating participants of the educational process, halting the process of offline learning, physical destruction of the institution, etc.
Target setting. One of the conditions for the effective management of an educational institution in wartime conditions is the psychological endurance and resilience of the personnel, critical thinking, and an ability to make decisions in rather non-standard situations. The psychological aspect of the institution manager's personality has a very powerful influence on the management of the educational institution in crisis conditions.
Actual scientific researches and issues analysis. Management issues in the educational sphere of Ukraine are reflected in the works of national scientists such as: R. Vdovichenko, G. Yelnikova, L. Kalinina, L. Karamushka, O. Koroliuk, V. Maslova, V. Melnyk, V. Oliynyka, N. Ostroverkhova, L. Parashchenko, O. Pometun, Z. Ryabova, T. Sorochan, E. Khrykova and others.
The research objective. The objective is to determine the defining characteristics of the management of an educational institution in the conditions of war in Ukraine with an emphasis on the personal traits of the head of the institution and to identify effective management styles and methods during crisis events, as well as to provide practical psychological advice on supporting the teaching staff in a difficult time of uncertainty.
The statement of basic materials. In the article, we review the results of a study among principals and deputy principals regarding the identification of personal traits and qualities that allow them to manage an educational institution in wartime conditions. Practical tips for organizing communication between team members, which help managers support and set positive thinking among the stuff, are given.
Conclusions. During crisis-traumatic events, which are currently presented by military activities in the country, the personal traits of the manager as a team leader are of utmost importance. In situations of confusion and uncertainty, it is essential for the manager of an educational institution to have an arsenal of methods and techniques for uniting the team and inspiring it for positive actions and decisions in order to organize the educational process in the crisis conditions of war. Considering this, one of the challenges is development of competence of managers for actions in non-standard situations, the issues of anti-crisis management in education.
