Urgency of the research. The challenges, which are supposed to be met by pharmaceutical sphere, determine the feasibility of seeking and using of new approaches to the training of future pharmaceutists in medical/pharmaceutical institutions of higher education (M(P)HEIs) in Ukraine.

Target setting. Informatization of the higher pharmaceutical education is seen as an essential component of establishment of the medical reform, which requires to use the modern information technology in the teaching of Chemistry disciplines, among which Organic Chemistry plays a key role. Given the trends in the development of the pharmaceutical industry, it is of scientific interest to analyse best practices of training future pharmaceutists in domestic M(P)HEIs, in particular, regarding the use of distance education in the organization of the independent work of the students of pharmaceutical faculties in Organic Chemistry.

Actual scientific researches and issues analysis. The theoretical and practical aspects of the organization of independent work of higher education institutions’ students in Organic Chemistry were investigated by O. Koifman, O. Rechitsky, S. Reshnova, N. Streltsova, R. Shpak and others. However, the works devoted to the analysis of the practice of organizing the independent work of students of the pharmaceutical faculties of M(P)HEIs of Ukraine in the process of teaching Organic chemistry using the MOODLE system, have not become a subject of intense scientific interest of scientists.

The research objective. The purpose of the study was to analyse best practices of using the MOODLE system at the faculties of pharmacy in domestic M(P)HEIs during the organization of independent work of students in Organic Chemistry. The tasks for the study were as follows: substantiation of the importance of distance studying in the organization of independent work in learning Organic Chemistry by future specialists with higher pharmaceutical education in M(P)HEIs of Ukraine; and analysis of best practices of using the MOODLE system at the faculties of pharmacy in the domestic M(P)HEIs to organize self-study work of students in Organic Chemistry.

The statement of basic materials. Pursuing the goal of improving the quality of professional training of future specialists in higher pharmaceutical education is a current trend in Ukraine, which seems to determine the effectiveness of pharmaceutical services as a component of medical reform. A study of best practices of the organization of independent work of the future pharmacists in Organic Chemistry run at Bohomolets National Medical University, National Pirogov Memorial Medical University (Vinnytsya), Odessa National Medical University, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University, National University of Pharmacy and revealed that distance learning is commonly used there as the form of organisation and implementation of educational process. The examination of the web-sites of M(P)HEIs of Ukraine made it possible to find out that the key specifics of the organization of independent work of students of pharmaceutical faculties in Organic Chemistry through distance learning is the use of the MOODLE system. Its selection is supported by the fact it that MOODLE meets the main requirements for its implementation and using in the higher education process. It is reliable in operation, easy to use and manage the educational process (including the organization of independent work of students), and characterised by modularity, compatibility, safety. In addition, the MOODLE system has the reasonable price of software, maintenance and hardware.

Conclusions. The realisation of the goals of the educational process for teaching of Organic Chemistry to the future pharmacists facilitates the organisation of independent work in this discipline, which is based on using the MOODLE system. This is due to a number of advantages, including the individualisation of the process of providing and acquiring knowledge, gaining skills, accelerating cognitive activity, which occurs through the indirect interaction of distant subjects of educational activity in the educational and information environment of M(P)HEIs.
